If you want an appointment please let me know timely so I can arrange it.

If you instead want to self-check-in, please send me a message.

You will need to provide in advance:

• Main guest details for invoice
• All guests datas for the police
• Any city tax payment due

Finally, you will be required to sign a tenancy agreement digitally (it’s mandatory to have a written contract. With an old-fashioned signature. That’s Italy).

Once all the paperwork is done you will receive the code of the lockbox!

Arriving by private transfer

If you want a relaxed arrival you can contact me for a private transfer

If you land in FCO you will have to:

• Catch the FL1 train to stazione Ostiense
• Exit the station in Largo Partigiani and Catch bus 280
• Get off the bus in largo Fiorentini and walk 2 minutes:

You don’t arrive to FCO Airport? Then you have to first reach Stazione Termini.

From there you will have to catch bus 64 and get off at Piazza Corso Vittorio Emanuele/Tassoni.

Heating and AC

Use the remote control to choose your preferred temperature in the house.

Keep in mind: the ❅ mode is for cooling down, the ☼ mode is for warming the room.

Once you have chosen the mode, use the arrows to set the temperature.

Register/Radiators.

Please use those for heating rather than AC in order to save energy. The control is in the corridor, near the entrance. Select the HAND symbol (manual setting) and choose your temperature with the arrows.

Hot water

Your boiler is in the kitchen.
This symbol is for summer setup:

This is for winter set up:

It must be set on summer from April to October, on winter from November to March.

This is the pressure meter:

It must be at around 1, never more than 1,5.

If it goes below one the boiler will signal E for error. You will need to call me!

Are you experiencing an hot water issue?

• Please go at the boiler in the kitchen and push the reset button, without changing any other setting.
• Look for the pressure meter and check the level. It must be above 1. If it is lower please contact me immediately, I will come to fix ASAP.

What to do if there is no electricity?

In the kitchen

You will find a standard gas stove top in the apartment. The handles control gas, push them to turn on fire while gas is open. A security valve will close gas if you turn the handles without pushing. After turning on the fire you will have to wait 5 second before releasing pressure on the handles, or the fire will turn off for security reasons.

Trash

The trash bins are in piazza Pasquale Paoli. Here’s a map of the walk to the trash bins:

The strenghts of Carlo Menta are:

Why you should visit this place:

I Supplì

This is a street food place.

The menu changes every day, so you may not find my suggestions at any time. For example on fridays you will never find any because, in Rome, that's the day of fish.

But you will do find everyday supplì,  a Roman special dish that you see in the picture above. Needless to say, they do the best ones in Rome.

Other Highlights:

• Carbonara
• Amatriciana
• Cacio e pepe
• Gricia

These are simply the best I have ever eaten. But remember that you can't sit at "I Supplì".

Must-try Food

The typical dishes of Rome, that you must try before departing, regardless of where you eat are:

1. Pasta alla carbonara
   
   This dish was invented during WWII. Americans in Rome were eating eggs and bacon. We can't help but seeing pasta everywhere, so Romans invented this dish for the visitors. It was an instant success!
2. Pasta alla Amatriciana
   
   A traditional dish based on tomato and the delicious "Guanciale"
3. Pasta Cacio e Pepe
   
   Pasta, cooking water, pepper and the traditional Roman cheese: Pecorino.
   This is a classic!
4. Pasta alla Gricia
   
   You can see it as a white Amatriciana, or a cacio e pepe with "Guanciale"... The result is always delicious!
   It is said to be very ancient, dating back to the time of the Romans, when tomato was still not brought to Italy from America.
5. Fritto misto alla romana
   
   Rome is famous for it's deep fried street food. The most typical are: Supplì, Mozzarella in carrozza, Carciofi alla giudia, Crocchette di patate!

Discovering a cool curiosity

Right at the corner of the building of the house there is a piece of text 2000 years old! It comes from an inscription on the temple of Jupiter on the Campidoglio:

the workers employed in the construction, more than 250 years ago, were unable to read so they installed the precious piece upside down!

Locals love to go around walking. Stopping inside pubs is not as popular as sitting outside for a quick drink and then moving on. The city is so beautiful at night!

how to get there

Walking till "Er Fontanone der Gianicolo"

Trastevere lays between the river and a hill called "Gianicolo". It is named after the Roman God Janus. It used to be covered by forests and fields. From it's top it's possible to see the entire valley where Rome was born almost 3000 years ago.

Nowadays is an elegant neighborhood with beautiful little palaces and villas.

From Trastevere you can walk up Via Garibaldi and reach the wonderful "Fontana dell'Acqua Paolo", better known among Romans as "Er Fontanone der Gianivolo", a massive fountain with an amazing panorama on the city!

LOCAL TIPS

Have you already completed your must-see list? Here's a few amazing things to do in Rome that the masses ignore:

1) Having coffee at the roof bar on top of the “Musei Capitolini”, the entrance is on the right side of the stairs going

up to the Capitol Hill:
